Once Upon A Time

My friend Linda and I attended summer CHA 2010 in Rosemont, IL and Sizzix was handing out a sweet little dress box die (#656598). Needless to say we were thrilled to get this and I immediately tucked mine away at home for someone special. Fast forward almost two years and one of my oldest and dearest friends announced that her daughter was getting married. "Perfect!" I told myself. Time to get busy making my little bridal box:)

I found this awesome empty box at a yard sale awhile ago that was used to house a man's cologne. It has a clear acetate cover and a lid that goes on top of that. Crumbled purple tissue paper was laid in it to surround my creation. I started the box by photocopying a picture of the bride (head and neck only) and adhering it onto lightweight chipboard, then cutting out. My next step was to attach it to the top portion of the dress. From there I added rows of gathered white crepe paper, some small strips of lavender ribbon, netting and a hand made rose cut from a small MFT die. I adhered several tiny pearls with glue and hand drew the necklace, adding a crown charm and more netting for her veil. For her arms I used pipe cleaners and again gathered a small strip of crepe paper for her sleeves. I added a die cut strip to the top of the box, some tiny punched butterflies and a banner that I stamped the words - "Once Upon A Time"(not sure what company the stamp was from). Needless to say she was thrilled with it and I was tickled that she liked it.

The funny part of this whole story is that I liked this DIE sooooo much that I actually ordered it on line, even though I don't own a Big Shot Pro machine to cut it out with yet...LOL!

Happy Easter eveyone! Hope the Easter bunny leaves you lots of chocolate:)

  3. Debbie, this is just incredible! Your creativity is just out of this world. That polka dot netting is so darn cute! I sure hope you find that "deal" on a Pro so you can do many more stunning pieces with your new die. Geez! I don't even know where my dress die-cut is...probably buried in that disaster room of mine.
